A change of birthday plans is a huge hit for Hurst Hall ResidentA birthday celebration for one Resident at residential and residential memory care home, Hurst Hall, in Ashton-under-Lyne, has been a wonderful day for all; albeit not to original plans!

Bill, who lives at the home, turned 80 this month and celebrated in the home with friends and fellow Residents (with lots of singing, dancing and birthday cake). His family came to see him with cards and balloons which he was very happy with.

On Saturday 18th, Bill’s wife had planned to take him for a meal but when they got there unfortunately the pub had to be shut due to pipes bursting! Not to worry though, all his family and friends gathered in the local park where there was a big field for his grandchildren and great grandchildren to play on which Bill found really nice and sat there smiling at his family.

They didn’t go without food, as Bill’s family went to local shop and bought sandwiches, crisps and a few bottles. They enjoyed a birthday cake which all his grandchildren sung to him!

Fiona Brown, Area Director, commented, “Bill loved spending time with is family and everyone said it was so nice to see the smile on his face.”
