A day to remember at Hull care homeResident Edith Marritt at HC One’s Kesteven Grange care home, made beautiful homemade poppies for Remembrance Day.

The Hull care homes very own 'Duchess' 108 year old Edith, made an impressive amount of poppies for staff to wear for Remembrance Day.

Edith is a keen knitter and also enjoys crocheting and thought it would be a great idea to keep herself busy, as well as do something to thank the staff for all of their hard work.

Edith remembered it was November and noticed a few of the staff didn’t have a poppy so decided that she would make them instead.

The time, effort and skill Edith put into the poppies really was something special, and the staff all treasure the poppy the received and will wear it every year.

The home manager said “They are just truly amazing. We are so honoured to wear a poppy but this year Edith made it even more special.”
