Bingo club at Church ViewResidents and Colleagues at HC-One’s Church View residential and residential memory care home, in Caerphilly, have always played an odd game of bingo here and there, but after chatting to the today, it was apparent that they wanted more.

Marie Mills, Wellbeing Coordinator, has organised for this to become more of a weekly event and not just a game but a mini competition; a large game that would be held in a ‘hall’ as such, where people would get to move into for the afternoon.

Marion Parker, who is a Resident at Church View, helped Marie to decide what kind of prizes they would have, and they plan to build a proper stash!

The home also has a Resident bingo caller, Bill Thomas, who has agreed to call the numbers for them every week! (And he did such a good job of it.)

Planned there is now a game of bingo, an interval with singing and drinks, and then another game.

The Residents felt as if they had gone out to play bingo, rather than being at the home and it was a wonderful experience for all involved including fellow Residents, Mary, Trina, Janet and Ellen.

One of the Residents said, “Isn’t it nice to get out to play bingo?”

Marie added, “The laughing and giggling was heard from afar as we cracked jokes over the microphone. The Residents really enjoyed it!”
