Boosting morale with kind gestures at Retford care homeColleagues at HC-One’s Barnby Court care home in Barnby Moor are spending this month boosting morale in the home and making sure everybody is happy.

Wellbeing Coordinator, Kerry, has started a special ‘shout out’ board where Colleagues can post kind comments about one another for all to see. The aim of the board is to let everyone know they’re doing a great job and to spread positivity around their workplace.

Kerry has also started a ‘hug in a mug’ campaign where Colleagues receive a special mug filled with little treats. The gesture is working its way around the home and eventually everyone will have their own lovely mug as a way of saying thank you.

Barnby Moor Housekeeper, Tori, was the first Colleague in the home to receive her hug in a mug. She commented: “This makes me feel great about my role in the home, it’s nice to be recognised!”

As well as the shout out board and mugs full of treats, Colleagues have the opportunity to win their very own “Stephie Award”, created by Home Administrator, Stephanie.

Stephanie has made her own special certificates that she passes out to Colleagues who thinks are doing something great either in or out of the workplace.

Angela Williams, a Colleague at Barnby Moor and winner of a coveted Stephie Award, said: “Getting the Stephie Award did make me laugh! It’s only something small but it was so nice to see my work being noticed.”
