A Colleague has stepped up to become the new salon hairdresser for Residents at HC-One’s The Elms care home in Whittlesey, Peterborough.
Last year, the care home had to say goodbye to their regular visiting hairdresser due to coronavirus restrictions and lockdown. Many Residents were understandably upset with this loss as they love having their hair professionally washed and blow dried with the odd perm.
One Colleague at the home has saved the day. Carol, a Care Assistant at The Elms, took it upon herself to take up the skill and regularly offers her hairdressing services to the Residents.
Elizabeth, a Resident at the home, said: “I’m very pleased with my new hair style. It’s lovely of Carol to take the time to do this for me.”
Carol now spends her Thursday evenings making sure everyone can enjoy a nice pamper so that Residents can look and feel their very best. An ex-hairdresser, Carol knows how important the salon is in making sure Residents feel happy about themselves.
The Elms Resident, Doris, commented: “I always look forward to my salon visits. I can’t wait to have my perm soon!”
Residents are over the moon with Carol’s work and the salon is always busy with Residents eager for a spot of pampering. And with hair and beauty restrictions still in place across the UK for at least the next couple of months, Carol’s new care home salon shows no signs in slowing down.
The Elms Home Manager, Katie Coulson, said: “Carol has been an inspiration. She stepped in when we needed her the most and the Residents are all truly grateful for her delivery.”
