Care home pet therapy goes down a storm at Widnes care homeRalph the Jack Russell came to visit Ferndale Mews residential memory care and nursing memory care home.

The minute the pooch walked through the door, the Residents’ faces lit up. They really enjoyed throwing the ball for him, taking him for a walk around the home and giving him pets and treats.

William (Bill), Doris (Dolly), Marjorie (Marj) and Ann in particular really loved playing with Ralph and giving him all the attention he could ask for. The highlights were how involved and excited the Residents got, their smiles could have written a thousand words.

Ralph also loved getting all the attention and treats from everyone including staff. It brought the Residents such happiness and love just to have an hour in the morning with him.

Once Ralph was tired from all the games of fetch he played everyone settled down to a nice hot cup of tea and some lunch.

Dolly remarked, “He’s such a beautiful and well-behaved boy, just look at that smile!" She added that she would love to have a dog around all the time; he really made her day.

Bill said “I could play fetch with him all day.”
