Dorothy Ives celebrated her 103d birthday at HC-One’s Sutherland Court care home in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on Tuesday 18th May.
Born in Newcastle in 1918, Dorothy worked as manageress in a factory and married her beloved husband, Fred. Dorothy has lived a wonderful life and her favourite things in life are listening to music and eating chocolate.
To celebrate her milestone birthday, the team at Sutherland Court arranged a birthday party for Dorothy which was attended by her fellow Residents. A delicious buffet lunch was served, Dorothy’s favourite music was played and she was presented with a birthday cake and big bouquet of flowers.
When asked what her secret is to living a long and happy life, Dorothy commented that it is being happy, keep smiling but most importantly, eating lots of chocolate.
Sutherland Court Home Manager, Karen Stewart said: “It was a pleasure to help Dorothy celebrate which a special birthday, I am pleased she enjoyed her party.”
