Chelmsford care home celebrate two huge milestonesResidents and Colleagues at HC-One’s Admirals Reach care home in Chelmsford celebrated two huge milestones in the home this month, with 90th and 100th birthday celebrations.

Admirals Reach Residents Marjorie Baker, 100 and Joan Holmes, 90, celebrated their respective milestones on March 21st this year, which Colleagues thought caused for a huge celebration.

Marjorie, who was born in Latchington, Essex on 21st March 1921, lived on a farm near Burnham-on-Crouch. Marjorie loved her gardening when shew as younger and used to do a lot of knitting for children in Africa, “I liked helping people,” she said.

For her birthday, The Minster from St Pauls Church came and stood outside her doorway to wish her a very happy centenary.

Jean, born 21st March 1931, was born at home in a bungalow, in Hayes, Middlesex. Jean worked in Barclays as a bank clerk, loves her gardening, crosswords, hand crafts, going to the pub and used to make patchwork quilts and cushions. 

Jean had a husband called Denys, but has no children, but is really close to her nephews and nieces, David, John and Pauline.

For Jeans birthday treat, she was presented with a bouquet of beautiful flowers, balloons, birthday cards and a cake with candles. Staff all joined in to sing Happy Birthday to her.
