Cooking sessions at Rosebridge Court care homeAs part of promoting independence on the Allendale household unit at Rosebridge care home, in Hindley, Colleagues have organised cooking sessions twice a week.

These sessions give Residents the chance to cook different meals for themselves and other Residents they live with and has been a huge hit!

One Colleague recalled, “Our Residents mostly all take part, they are enjoying choosing what they would like to cook, preparing it then cooking the meal, tidying up the skills kitchen and also enjoy eating it”

“They look forward to hearing other Residents’ feedback on how well they have done on cooking the meal and how delicious it was. Each resident decides which meal is their favourite each week and gets to cook what they enjoy the best.”

Residents who have recently been taking part are John Melling, Joyce Aldred, Sharon Andrews, Jenny Tam, Margaret Bailey, Susan Walsh, Lucy Boswell and Gerald M.

Now that the home has started the cooking sessions, the Residents have asked if they could do the cooking every day!

Home Manager, Cheryl Little, commented, “At a time when life is restricted, the Residents have taken control and chose to be happy and healthy. It's so lovely to see all the Residents cooking and enjoying their own meals.  Person-centred care at it's finest! Go team Allendale!”
