Evening at the races at Whitley Bay care homeResidents at HC-One’s Eastbourne House care home in Whitley Bay enjoyed a ‘night at the races’ with cheese and wine and some big bets.

Everyone came together in the lounge to recreate a day at the races, each Resident was given £2000 in monopoly money to bet on the horses they thought were going to win. There was lots of chatting and laughter as Residents chose their horses, with a few big spenders and one Resident going all in on one horse.

As the races begun everyone cheered for their horses and enjoyed some wine and cheese during the event. Eastbourne House Resident, Marjory Thompson commented: “It felt like a proper evening at the races. What a lot of fun!”

Eastbourne House Home Manager, Debbie White said: “I am so pleased our Residents enjoyed their racing day, it’s something a bit different and it was very well received. Residents are already looking forward to their next evening at the races.”

Situated in The Links, Eastbourne House offers short and long term care packages for members of the Whitley Bay community that require residential care and residential memory care for those living with dementia.
