Glasgow care home corridors undergo amazing transformationResidents and Colleagues HC-One’s Darnley Court care home in Glasgow have been treated to some new, beautifully decorated corridors, as the home looked to keep improving the environment for Residents.

During lockdown, Colleagues discussed ways in which the environment for Darnley Courts Residents could be improved. One of areas Colleagues looked at was Fleming House corridors. Previously there were many photographs and wall murals that made the corridors look 'busy' with no theme.

One of the themes that was decided on, with the help of Darnley Court Residents, is trying to encourage people to feel at home, therefore deciding on a 'Street theme', with room doors painted like a home front door and common street objects such as telephone boxes painted onto the walls.

One Darnley Court Resident said: “The area is very nice and bright, it feels like I am walking down a wee street.”

Colleagues received many compliments on the new corridors, so much so that they are thinking of using the same idea around other areas of the home, to improve the environment for even more Residents.

Darnley Court Home Manager said: “Very impressed with the hard work and commitment from staff to improve Fleming House. Thank you.”
