Glasgow care home Resident receives gifts from the Navy and the Queen on his 100th birthdayA very special Resident at HC-One’s Wyndford Locks care home in Glasgow received some lovely presents from his friends in the Navy as he became a Centenarian.

Brendan Moran, a Resident at Wyndford, turned 100 on 1st December and was surprised by his friends in the Navy with some wonderful presents.

The kind people at the Navy sent Brendan some gorgeous cupcakes, with all of the places that he had visited whilst he was in the Navy on the icing. They also kindly sent Brendan a new tie and a Navy pin for him to wear and said that they plan to meet up again when it is safe to do so.

Later in the day, Brendan received his much anticipated telegraph from Her Majesty, the Queen which he opened with a great big smile on his face. He then opened all of his cards from his friends, family and neighbours and was overwhelmed with all the kind wishes on his big day.

“Thank you everyone for making this day so special, I am over the moon with all my cards and I loved my telegraph from the Queen,” said Brendan.

Colleagues at the home then threw a small party for Brendan, which took place in the homes cosy lounge, socially distanced. Residents enjoyed a lovely buffet and of course a cake, which was shared out to everyone.

When asked what his secret to long life if, Brendan joked, “the secret to a long life I one good woman and five pints of lager a day.”

Karen Watson, Wyndford Locks Home Manager said: “It was fantastic to help Brendan celebrate his 100th birthday during these tough times. Happy 100th Brendan!”
