The staff and Residents of
Grampian Court in Peterlee which offers residential and residential memory care, for those living with dementia, supported Macmillan Coffee Morning and Harvest Festival.
To raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research, the home held a raffle and donations for prizes came from families and staff and the local bakers Greggs kindly donated a selection of doughnuts.
The kitchen staff also made a variety of cream cakes, and everyone seem to enjoy them with a cup of tea.
The Residents enjoyed entertainment from Alan who sang in the garden whilst they danced along in the lounge.
The raffle was a huge success and we raised £240.00.
One Resident, commented, "Thank you for a great day, I have really enjoyed the atmosphere".
Then the Residents enjoyed a Harvest Festival in the home and a choir was gathered in the lounge with Residents from all units.
We chose songs related to hymns followed by music that was sentimental to various of the Residents such as Vera Lynn, Doris Day, Matt Monroe, Dean Martin.
There were twenty-five residents who joined in and it was a great morning.
Leading up to the Harvest Festival, friends, family, and staff donated non-perishable foods which are being donated to the Eden Hill People Centre. The food is going to vulnerable families and the elderly who live locally in our community.
The Residents thoroughly enjoyed the singing, dancing, and the lovely Dutch apple spiced cake

Emma Hume, Care Home Manager, remarked, "Well done for raising funds to support MacMillan Cancer Research and I would also like to thank Greggs for their donation of cakes to the home. Also, thanks to everyone who contributed to the Harvest Festival, it was lovely to see the Residents enjoyed taking part in the choir, they have requested a regular choir on a regular basis, so we are joining the care home choir through Zoom in the coming week”.
