Hairdressing services return for Feniscowles care home ResidentsResidents at Blackburn residential, nursing and nursing dementia care home, Old Gates, have been delighted this week with the return of the home’s hairdresser.

Unfortunately, Old Gates had to cancel their regular hairdresser from visiting the home in March last year, due to the pandemic. Hairdressing has been sorely missed but as restrictions have started to ease, Colleagues have began to look at restarting hairdresser visits with careful risk management plans in  place.

Today the home was finally able to welcome new hairdresser, Jackie, into the home.

The Residents have been absolutely delighted to be able to visit the salon again and the care home is filled with glamourous ladies and dapper gents sporting their new styles!

When it was Resident Freda's turn to visit the salon, both her and Jackie got a wonderful surprise; Jackie did Freda's hair at home for many years!

Freda said that she was delighted with her hair and the surprise of seeing Jackie. She said to her “I never thought I'd see you again!”

All the Residents were delighted to visit the salon again after such a long time.

Connie Fender, who lives at Old Gates, said that she feels like a new woman

Helen Holden, General Manager, “It's been such a lovely day, hearing fun and laughter coming from the salon again! Jackie is a lovely, bubbly person - just the tonic!”
