Harvest Festival has been in full force at HC-One’s
Pennwood Lodge residential and nursing memory care home, in Kingswood, as the home have been collecting goods for a local charity as well as celebrating Harvest as one big family.
Staff and Residents celebrated the harvest by holding a social distancing afternoon tea on 4th October, which included a short church service with prayers and thanks read by staff.
Resident Pamala Powell read out ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ to others and they all joined in. There was a display of fruit and vegetables (pictured bottom right) along with two scarecrows and salt-dough vegetables made by the Residents and Wellbeing Coordinator Julie Hill. Everyone enjoyed tucking into the lovely cakes and snacks provided by the Pennwood kitchen team.

Residents agreed that it was a lovely afternoon and was nice to see some different faces. Pamela said, “I enjoyed the service and reading The Lord’s Prayer as I was a regular church visitor.”
Sarah Daly, Home Manager, added, “It was lovely afternoon and thank you everyone for all your hard work.”
Today, the home donated goods to ‘Roots Independent Street Team’
Colleagues at Pennwood Lodge collected food at harvest time and decided to donate to the charity, which supports the homeless in many ways. The charity was brought to attention by Carer, Carly (pictured centre) who is part of the team at the charity. Carly will be cooking meals for the homeless in the home’s local area.
Carly said a big ‘thank you’ from everyone at Roots Independent Street Team.
Julie commented, “It was interesting to hear about the charity’s good work and we were only too happy to donate to such a good cause!”
