Jesmond care home Resident reunited with son on 90th birthdayThere were smiles and happy tears all around at HC-One’s Fleming Court care home in Jesmond, Newcastle-upon-Tyne as Resident Elizabeth Kingsley, was surprised with her visit from one of her sons for her 90th birthday.

John, Elizabeth’s (Liz) son does not live locally to Fleming Court care home so is unable to visit his mother regularly. He approached the team at Fleming Court to arrange a special visit with his mother so that he could celebrate her 90th birthday with her.

The team were more than happy to help John arrange a surprise visit, on Liz’s birthday John arrived at the care home and completed an LFD test before he was able to be reunited with his mother.

Liz entered the room to see her son John surrounded by the cards and gifts he had brought for her, there were tears of happiness all around as the team recorded their special moment so that John could show the rest of their family who were unable to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The birthday celebrations continued for Liz after her visit from John, she enjoyed a party with her fellow Residents at Fleming Court with a delicious birthday cake and everyone singing happy birthday.

Fleming Court Home Manager, Jackie Lothian said: “I am so pleased we were able to help Liz celebrate her birthday and accommodate such a lovely surprise from her son John.”
