Joyful June at Newcastle care homeIt has been an exciting month for Residents at HC-One’s Sutherland Court care home in Newcastle-upon-Tyne as Residents were able to welcome back outdoor live entertainment and go on their first day trip out in over a year.

Everyone at Sutherland Court was excited to welcome local performer, Mike Wilde, who performed a set as Elvis in the home’s garden. Residents watched from the window and sang along to their favourite songs, at the end of the show everyone gave a round of applause and commented on how lovely it was to hear live music again.

Some Residents have enjoyed their first trip out in the home’s minibus after over a year of coronavirus restrictions meaning they were unable to have a trip out of the home. The group enjoyed a scenic drive to the seaside, where Residents reminisced about trips to the beach with their loved ones, Dorothy aged 103 recounted: “I used to come every weekend with the family and used to have fish and chips.”

Sutherland Court Home Manager, Karen Stewart said: “It’s been a wonderful month for all at Sutherland Court, we have really enjoyed being able to bring some normality back to the lives of our Residents.”

Located on Sutherland Avenue, Sutherland Court care home offers short and long term care packages for older ladies and gentlemen that require residential care and residential memory care for those living with dementia.
