Little Art School moulds big artists at Ayr care homeA local Ayrshire Care Home has their paintbrushes and easels at the ready as they virtually welcome back their much-loved art school.

HC-One’s Claremont Residents are once again enjoying regular art classes with the Little Art School, following the lockdown period.

The budding artists’ first class was held via Zoom and each week Residents will be shown how to improve their drawing skills, from simple shapes to portraits. Residents particularly enjoyed using watercolours to bring their drawings to life.

Catherine Potts, HC-One’s Claremont House Care Home Manager, said, “It’s lovely to watch the Residents take part in Little Art School once again.

“Art provides a fantastic way for our Residents to express themselves, helping to build self-esteem. It’s also very relaxing and you can see just how lost in the moment they become when immersed in their art activity.”

Art is just one of the many activities that forms part of the Wellbeing weekly programme of events and activities at Claremont House.

Located on High Thorneyflat Wynd, Claremont offers short and long term care packages for older ladies and gentlemen in Ayrshire that require nursing or nursing memory care for those living with dementia.
