London home have a great time for DiwaliBakers Court care home Colleagues and Residents, in Greater London, decided to do something very special to celebrate Diwali this year. 

Diwali is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs. Diwali symbolises the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance". 

Bakers Court celebrates all cultural and religious activity, and on this occasion, it was Diwali celebration. Leading up to the event, Colleagues spoke to Residents to get their idea on what the decorations should look like and the type of food they will like. 

When it came to it, Residents enjoyed two days of celebrations with a variety of snacks, foods and drinks. There was lot of dancing and movies!

One Resident, while watching the dancing Colleagues, said, “You are very good dancer!”

Another Resident admired the decorations, stating, “I love the lights, it reminds me of Christmas.”

There were lots of other very positive commented, “It’s nice that we celebrate all walks of life and try new things.”

Home Manager, Akinwale Oyelekan, remarked, “This is inspiring, it feels good to see everyone involved and engaged in the celebrations. Our strength lies in our differences.”
