Manchester care home displays mini art galleryIn the regular art sessions at HC-One’s Averill House residential memory and nursing memory care home, in Newton Heath, Colleagues and Residents decided on a project to try many different artwork techniques.

After trying the different techniques, it was decided on the drip and hairdryer style to create some pieces of original artwork to be hung along the home’s corridors to create a mini art gallery for Residents to enjoy.

Wellbeing Coordinator, Jodie Yates, organised this fantastic activity and described the works, “We created four pieces of artwork titled ‘Into the Forest’ using shades of green and dark couloirs to give the feel of entering the forest and woods. Intergalactic with undertones of blues and purples which looks like the galaxies in space. Off to harvest, with yellows to represent the end of summer and the harvest and hippy chick with swirls of bright colours to give the feel of the vibrant 60’s.”

Paul Brown, who is a Resident at the home, said, "Intergalactic is my favourite! The shades are so peaceful it looks so good.”

These pieces of artwork have been displayed using recycled frames and now hung in the corridor. They are a real talking point and are stunning with many people commenting on how they look like professional artwork.

Linda Wild, who is a member of the domestic team, was very pleased, “Wow it looks amazing you have done a great job and I love it! They really give the feel of the titles of the artworks there stunning.”
