Morpeth care home hamper gift makes one local gentleman’s ChristmasHC-One homes across the north of England have organised a hamper initiative, that saw representatives from the homes hand out hampers in the local community, to  combat loneliness, isolation and bring a smile to people’s faces this Christmas.

Residents and Staff at the Foxton Court care home in Morpeth recently decided to give back to their local community this Christmas, after the local community pulled together to help the home during the coronavirus pandemic.

This year has been a difficult year for everyone and a year where everyone has had to pull together.  Residents at Foxton Court care home nominated individuals in their local community who they felt, truly deserved a surprise with the delivery of a wonderful Christmas hamper.

Foxton Court care home surprised five members of their community on 22nd December with their hampers, they were overjoyed with the gifts which helped them feel remembered and appreciated during the festive season.

One of the recipients of the home’s hampers, was a gentleman in his late 70s who had been made temporarily homeless due to tier restrictions and now is staying in temporary accommodation as he cannot return to his home until they return back to Tier 2.

Alison, a representative from Age UK, who is working with the gentleman said: “He has been having a tough time and your kindness was so appreciated and made a huge difference to him this Christmas.”

“His family live down south so he said this may be the only present he gets this year, he was overjoyed. Thank you for arranging this gift and allowing us to deliver it to a client.”

“Merry Christmas to all at Foxton Court.”

Foxton Court Home Manager, Joanne Bulford said: “It’s great that, as a home, we can spread some festive joy even in these unprecedent times.”

Area Director, Tracy Dixon “We are extremely thankful to those in our community for the love and support that they have shown us through these unprecedented and challenging times.  To be able to offer a token of our appreciation was only fitting and we hope that the hampers we delivered, bring the same feelings of joy and warmth that they have given us through 2020!”

Overall, ten HC-One homes across the north of England are distributing Christmas hampers to people in the local community, spreading the festive spirit across the whole region and strengthening their relationships with those who they already communicate with.
