Oktoberfest garden party for Newton Heath ResidentsOktoberfest was in full swing this week at Averill House residential memory and nursing memory care home, in Manchester.

An Oktoberfest themed garden party was organised by Colleagues at the home and Residents were served different German flavoured beers; from vanilla lager to summer fruits to Bavaria and German sausage, as well as lots of other snacks too.

Residents, including Kath Black, Doris Jones, Paul Brown, Carol Morris, Mavis McDougal, Mina Shaw, Margaret Gallier and Vera smith, were entertained by the amazing Ian Jenkins (local singer) who sang hits such as ‘Oom-Pah-Pah’ and 'Edelweiss’.

The sun came out for everyone as well and all had a great afternoon singing and dancing in the garden.

Mina said, “I didn’t want it to end. It was great, the singing and dancing, and the vanilla lager is really nice.”

Vera added, “Wow what a great day.”

Jodie Yates, Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “What a day! The Residents loved the lager and all the different flavours. Singer Ian was also very entertaining for all!”
