Operation Decoration a success at Sunderland care homeColleagues at HC-One’s Northview Lodge recently recognised that Residents were looking forward to some new decorations and wallpaper around the home, so they set to task on Operation Decoration, to make their wishes come true.

During the coronavirus lockdown, the rainbow has become a symbol of hope so staff and Residents decided that the colour scheme for the main foyer would indeed be rainbow colours.

Items that were already in the foyer have been redesigned and recycled to give them a boost of colour and Residents own individual bedrooms have been given a makeover too.

Northview Lodge Resident Shelia who has been at the home since 2013 had her room decorated. As Shelia couldn’t get to the shops to pick her wallpaper, Colleagues brought the shop to her and Shelia picked her wallpaper out via a Zoom call.

Shelia cried when her redecorated room was revealed to her, she couldn't believe that she could have such a beautiful room.

Northview Lodge Home Manager, Patrick Morley said: “Team NVL done it again! We all need colour in these difficult times and we have it in this beautiful colourful area.”

The job is certainly not finished yet and staff will continue to individualise each Residents room, but judging by the reactions so far, Operation Decoration can certainly be deemed a huge success.
