Paisley care home Colleagues start up music group for ResidentsColleagues at HC-One’s Hillside View care home in Paisley recently set up the homes very first music group for Residents to join and practice on musical instruments.

During lockdown, Hillside View care assistant, Craig Bell was made aware that many Residents used to play musical instruments before they joined the home. Craig saw a great opportunity to set up the homes first music group to help Residents rekindle their love for music as well as their musical skills.

One Hillside View Resident said: “It’s great playing again with the other people here who used to play before they came to the home.”

The new group meet twice a week to hone in on their skills and to chat about music old and new. They group are currently practicing a few songs which they are hoping to play at the homes next open day.

Playing an instrument is very beneficial for elderly people as it helps them set new goals to accomplish, offers a way for them to connect with other or new people, relieves stress and helps exercise the brain.
