Pamper time at Newcastle care homeResidents at HC-One’s Kirkwood Court care home in Kenton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne enjoyed a special pamper session getting lovely manicures and hand massages.

The ladies at Kirkwood Court who used to visit their local beauty salon to get their nails done have been unable to attend for some due to COVID-19 restrictions. The team at the care home decided it would be nice to open a nail bar within the home so that Residents are able to enjoy being pampered without having to leave Kirkwood Court.

Team members and Relatives kindly donated to the Resident’s Comfort Fund to raise the funds needed to create the nail bar, a local business, Thorns Beauty also donated lots of new nail polishes so that the ladies would have plenty of choice on what colours they wanted on their nails.

Kirkwood Court Resident, Ann Kyle commented: “Wow, this is amazing! I feel like I’m in a real nail salon.” While Edith Bryant said: “This is such a wonderful idea, I can get my hair and nails done at the same time.”

Kirkwood Court Home Manager, Angela Douglass said: “The nail salon is already very popular with our Residents, I am pleased that they are going to be able to continue to enjoy being pampered from the comfort of their own home.”
