Pride celebrations at Peterlee care homeResidents and team members came together to celebrate Pride Month at HC-One’s Grampian Court care home in Peterlee.
An annual celebration each June, Pride Month is held in honour of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, which was a tipping point in the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.

Residents came together to celebrate Pride Month with some special live outdoor entertainment, the first live entertainment that has been enjoyed at the care home in over a year due to coronavirus restrictions. Everyone wore the colours of the rainbow to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community as they sang danced along to the music.

A great time was had by all, with Residents commenting on how nice it was to listen to a live performance once again, one Resident commented: “We have all had a wonderful day, it’s been great to come together to celebrate.”

Grampian Court Home Manager, Emma Hume said: “The spirits were high here today, it was lovely to see everyone supporting Pride Month and getting involved in the festivities.”

Located on Grampian Drive, Grampian Court care home offers short and long term care packages for older ladies and gentlemen that require residential care and residential memory care, for those living with dementia.
