Remembrance Day at Overdene HouseAt Overdene House residential and nursing care home, in Winsford, Residents took part in various activities throughout the week to commemorate Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.

In midweek, a group made poppy wreaths to display in the home’s dining room. This was followed by Armistice Day, where they held a remembrance service in the lounge, including ‘The Last Post’ and the two minutes silence at 11 o'clock. That afternoon, some Residents chose to watch a World War Two documentary.

On Saturday, they continued adding to the poppy display by making felt poppies.

Finally on Remembrance Sunday, a group of Residents and Colleagues went to the Remembrance service at Winsford War Memorial and watched the service.

One of the Residents said, “It was quite an emotional service.”

Another Resident added, “The poppies are really nice!”

Rebecca Jackson, Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “It is an honour to be able to commemorate Remembrance with people who have fought and given so much.”
