Residents keeping fit at Stockport care homeAt general nursing and residential memory care home Appleton Manor, in Bredbury, there was a variety of activities going on this week, including a meeting via video call for a keep fit session.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Colleagues and Residents meet via Zoom with Burns Gym all the way from Scotland. Appleton Manor, along with many other care homes across the country, join in.

Gym Instructors Joe and Tony deliver a 30-minute session for Residents to join in; this consists of gentle chair-based exercises, see pictured.

After the sessions finish, Wellbeing Coordinator, Sarah, also delivers another half hour session, as Residents really enjoy themselves. This helps promote the wellbeing and helps with mobility.

Sarah commented, “I love seeing all the Residents joining in, they really seem to enjoy it.”

“These sort of activities promote diet and fluid intake which is a very important part to keep our Residents hydrated and promote a good diet intake.”
