Reuniting two sisters at Radcliffe care homeCatherine Hardwick has been a Resident at Rose Court residential, residential memory care, nursing and nursing memory care home, in Manchester, for several years. Her sister, Anne Duffy, arrived in the home for a period of respite. They have not seen each other for several years so this was a wonderful surprise for all involved.

On the day of the meeting, Colleagues set up a selection of sandwiches and lots of cups of tea to have whilst they were catching up. This was very emotional for the staff as they could see the realisation and bond that the two sisters shared.  There were photographs of them both together many years ago which appeared to bring back some memories.

One comment that was said was “Oh you look like my mother!”

Both Residents appeared to enjoy reminiscing about the past and looking through the photographs.

One of the ladies, while browsing the photos, said, “I remember that day, we went dancing!”

Karen Davies, Care Home Manager, commented, “Both Residents appeared to enjoy the activity and it was a nice afternoon for them. It was a pleasure for us to be able to arrange the visit and watch them reminiscence from the background.”
