September news from Pennwood Lodge care homeIt’s been a busy September so far at Pennwood Lodge residential and nursing memory care home, in Kingswood, as one Colleague celebrates a long service award and Residents take part in a cooking class.

Luisa Stanton, pictured right, joined HC-One in 2005 as a Care Assistant and has remained at Pennwood Lodge ever since! She is a valued and well-respected team member who Colleagues describe as is kind, caring and a large bubbly personality that brightens up everyone’s day.

Luisa was presented with a certificate, 15 year badge, flowers and a shopping voucher.

Sarah Daly, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Thank you Luisa for all of your hard work and dedication to Pennwood and the Residents.”

Also, this week, Residents and staff were treated to a demonstration of traditional food from Pakistan cooked Deputy Manager, Aneela Gill.

Residents were able to ask questions about Pakistan and the food they ate. Resident Sheila Edwards even had a stir of the pot herself.

After everything was cooked, Residents had the opportunity to sample some of the dishes. On the menu was chicken biryani, potato and spinach curry, chickpea curry, chapati, onion bhaji and samosas.

Residents particularly enjoyed watching the food being cooked and the lovely smells and spices.

Nurse, Ed Charman, said, “This is a good activity using all the senses, and was good engagement with staff and Residents.”
