Residents at Rochdale’s
Oakland care home, which offers residential and residential memory care, have had a jam-packed filled summer full of activities, celebrations and lots of laughter!
In August, a baking day was held for Residents, including Mary Kavanagh, who got to create some tasty teatime treats for everyone. They produced some yummy chocolate chip cookies, which proved to be very popular!
On 20th August, the Residents at Oakland, including Voilt Knipe, Doreen Walton and Tony Daulby, enjoyed singing and dancing at a session which Colleagues hosted involving musical instruments; they had a great time shaking to the groovy music.
Karen, Home Manager, said that she enjoyed seeing the Residents having a great time!
As the month drew on, a garden party took place at the home, whereby Residents listened to local singer, Ian Jenkins, perform for them. The weather was in everyone’s favour and there were so many happy faces. John Pattron, Mary Kavanagh, Lily Brodgen, Josephine Duffy and Jack Wellen, who all live at the home, thoroughly enjoyed a good dance and singalong.
Following on, Wellbeing Coordinator, Jo Cooksey, loves the Wednesday Wisdom sessions that the home actively takes part in and she says that she learns so much about the Residents, from their past lives, to their philosophies, to their wicked sense of humour. The question this time was ‘what valuable lesson did you learn from your first job?’
So, Residents set about coming up with an answer and these were wrote down on whiteboards (see pictured Residents Ronnie and Irene Taylor, Viviene Stott and Florence Tisley).
