Sunderland care Residents rejoice as the end of lockdown is in sightResidents are toasting to the light at the end of the lockdown tunnel after receiving their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine at HC-One’s Ashton Grange care home in Pallion, Sunderland.

The past year has been particularly difficult for Residents and Colleagues in care facilities across the UK. With Residents unable to hold their families and having to communicate through windows, it has been very hard on everyone.

The end of January was the first turning point for everyone at Ashton Grange as it marked the date were the remaining unvaccinated Colleagues and Residents received their first dose. Now everyone at the home has had the vaccination.

Residents and Colleagues toasted to the future as they enjoyed their well-earned refreshments after having the vaccine.

Ashton Grange Home Manager said: “The vaccine has given everyone a bit of hope that they will soon be reunited with their families.”

Now that the government have announced their plans and timeline for coming out of lockdown, Residents are rejoicing once again. The light at the end of the tunnel offers hope to everyone at the home that life will start getting a little bit more normal and they can soon be reunited with their families.

Ethel, a Resident at Ashton Grange, commented: “I might get to see my Great Granddaughter soon who I haven’t met yet.”
