The Residents and Colleagues at HC-One’s Fieldway care home in Mitcham, Surrey have been getting very colourful and creative as of late.
Residents worked together in their arts and crafts sessions to create beautiful and inspirational displays to brighten up the home ready for spring time.
They created two displayed that are now featured on the walls by the nurses’ stations, both upstairs and downstairs.
Downstairs, the arts and crafts club made a huge umbrella, rain drops and some beautiful flowers alongside an inspirational quote to keep everyone going during these difficult times.
For the upstairs nurses’ station, they created an incredible rainbow made by paper chain links, used cut outs of their handprints to make a sun and some more paper flowers with another quote.
Joan, a Resident at the home, commented: “The display is really nice and colourful. We have all done a good job!”
The displays are a lovely addition to the home to cheer everyone up in this cold month. Now that the Residents have found their exhibition space, they plan to change their displays on a regular basis to suit the seasons.
Fieldway Home Manager, Dahlia Clarke, said: “The displays have generated an air of togetherness in the home between staff and Residents. It’s lovely to hear the laughter.”
The displays aren’t the only thing keeping Colleagues happy in these difficult times. They have won a beautiful cake after being nominated in a competition by a Colleague’s family member.
The competition was to thank an establishment that has stayed open throughout this difficult time to thank Colleagues for all their hard work.
The seven-tier rainbow cake was made by a Mitcham bakery Destiny’s Dynasty. Every Colleague had a slice of the delicious cake and there even some spare for the Residents to taste-test.
