Victoria Manor Refurbishments gets a helping hand from a world champion boxerVictoria Manor in Edinburgh which offers nursing and nursing memory care for those living with dementia, are having a complete refurbishment of the home and one of the Residents was keen to help in the renovations.

Ken who is a Resident at the home and in his prime was a world champion boxer but also an experienced joiner, he offered to help as he loves doing odd jobs around the unit.

He took a keen interest in the refurbishment and helped strip off all the wallpaper from the lounge area and wants to carry out some more work and is already looking forward to the next phase.

After he had finished, Ken took great satisfaction once the work had been done and even helped choosing the colours of the new wallpaper!

Ken remarked, “I love being of some help to the home especially if a job needs doing then I am happy to help out!”

Stephen Colquhoun, Care Home Manager, commented, “This is the Residents home, so why not let them get involved and it is a great way of them remaining independent and happy”.
