Welcome home to Caerphilly care home ResidentWhen Wellbeing Colleagues at HC-One’s Church View residential care and residential memory care home, asked one Resident to help welcome another into the home, the result was fantastic!

As with many new Residents at care homes throughout the country, it can be a very unsettling time moving into a new place and this was the case for the newest lady Resident at the Caerphilly home.

Colleagues approached fellow friendly Resident Bill, pictured, who happily accompanied the newest Resident to the home’s coffee area where they could sit, relax and ease into the new life.

Ellen Smith, Care Home Manager, commented, “Bill was amazing! He immediately took it in his stride to help her. Bill and the lady sat in a comfy chair, Colleagues popped the fairy lights on, made sure that everyone was relaxed, then went to make them a cup of tea.”

Bill gently spoke to the lady, explaining that he understands that it feels new, and that we all feel the same in the beginning.  Asking her how she was and where she was from.

One wellbeing Colleagues said, “I genuinely believe that Bill made a difference, he made her feel so welcomed. In fact, I will be asking for a kindness in care award for him!”
