Over the past few years Colleagues at
Hartford Court care home in Cramlington have collected items for their local food bank during the festive period.
Many Colleagues at the 68 bed residential and residential dementia care home have been gathering food, toiletries and treats to donate to The Cramlington Food Bank.
The food bank, which is run under the Trussell Trust and is based in the Hope Centre, a community space in the heart of Cramlington which offers a safe space for people to go for either access a warm place, access the food bank, uniform bank or just go for a hot drink and a chat.
This year Colleagues decided it would be no different and embarked on collecting items from nappies, to tea, coffee as well as other non-perishable items and toiletries.
A large hamper was filled with many different items as well as 11 large bags of goods. They were collected on the 7th of December by a representative of the Hope Centre.
Moira Fisher, a Colleague at the care home, along with her sister contributed to the collection. They both said, “We just wish we could do more to help as it is so upsetting to think people are struggling for the basic items.”
Catherine, Deputy Manager, at Hartford Court, added, “I am so proud of the team once again for pulling together and giving a little back to the community that support our care home as well.”
Kay Rudd, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Each year Hartford Court hold two collections for the food bank, one in December and one in July and each one is met with such generosity and accepted by the Hope Centre with much gratitude.”
