HC-One Darlington Careline Team raises over £17,000 for Brain Tumour Research in memory of colleagueHC-One's Darlington Support Office is celebrating after raising an incredible £17,846.25 for the Brain Tumour Research charity.

Tracy Hardy, Careline Team Leader in our Support Office, lost her partner of over 15 years, David Watson, to a brain tumour in July 2022.

Inspired by Tracy's story, the Careline team rallied together and organized several fundraising events throughout June and July 2023. These included a "Wear a Hat Day" with baked goods sales, a raffle, and games. Residents from HC-One's Beaconsfield Court Care Home also joined in the fun. Additionally, the team participated in a sponsored climb of Roseberry Topping, and Tracy's daughter completed a charity mud run in Newcastle.

The funds raised will directly benefit Brain Tumour Research, a charity dedicated to finding a cure for all types of brain tumours and increasing UK investment in brain tumour research.

Tracy Hardy, Careline Team Leader at HC-One, said:
“I’d like to say a massive thank you to my team for their support, efforts, and contributions towards raising funds for the Brain Tumour Research charity.

“I am extremely proud and humbled that we have raised over £17,000 for a cause, incredibly close to my heart which will go towards research and finding a cure for brain tumours.”

Ashley McWilliams, Community Development Manager at Brain Tumour Research, added:
“We’re really grateful to everyone at HC-One’s Support Office for their incredible fundraising, as it’s only with the support of people like them that we’re able to progress our research into brain tumours and improve the outcome for patients who are forced to fight this awful disease.”
