Carterton care home residents enjoy ‘wild’ day out at Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens

Colleagues at HC-One’s Brize Meadow Lodge Care Home, in Carterton, West Oxfordshire, helped residents enjoy a memorable outing to Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens filled with sunshine, laughter, and unforgettable encounters with nature’s wonders.

The trip saw residents and colleagues immerse themselves in the park’s stunning landscapes. From towering giraffes to playful meerkats and lounging lions, residents were captivated by the diverse wildlife.

The group enjoyed a leisurely stroll, soaking in the beauty of the surroundings and sharing stories as they explored. A highlight of the day was a relaxing lunch break, complete with warm drinks and refreshing ice cream under clear and sunny skies.

The adventure wrapped up with a visit to the gift shop, where residents picked out special souvenirs for their grandchildren, adding a heartfelt touch to the day.

Helen Clear, HC-One’s Brize Meadow Lodge resident, beamed:

“This was the best day out I’ve had in ages. I loved seeing the animals, and the weather was perfect.”

Margaret England, another resident, shared:

“I really enjoyed getting to have a day out with my husband. We don’t often get to do things like we used to.”

Stacey Gardener, HC-One’s Brize Meadow Lodge Wellbeing Coordinator, who organised the outing, reflected:

“It was a perfect, wild day. The weather was spot-on, and everyone had a fantastic time. These experiences are vital for our residents’ wellbeing, and it’s a privilege to make them happen.”
