Nottingham care home brings joy with cinema outing for residents

Residents at HC-One’s Rivendell View Care Home, in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, enjoyed a heartwarming cinema outing that brought smiles and excitement.

Following a suggestion from Rivendell View resident Sylvia Parker during a social committee meeting, the care home organised a special trip to the Showcase Cinema De Lux in Nottingham on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, to watch the newly released film The Salt Path. Sylvia, who fondly recalled reading the book years ago, shared her enthusiasm for the film with fellow residents Pat Ward, Rita Brookes, and Brenda Butler, who eagerly joined her for the outing.

Accompanied by Rivendell View Front of House Manager, Gina Mills, and Deputy Manager, Elizabeth Houston, the group enjoyed a memorable day filled with laughter and shared experiences. Upon arrival, the cinema hostess warmly welcomed them by offering a selection of snacks and drinks.

While popcorn was skipped, all four residents indulged in their favourite sweets. The group was captivated by The Salt Path, and Sylvia described the outing as “an amazing time”. Pat, Rita, and Brenda echoed her excitement by eagerly discussing which film to watch next.

Elizabeth Houston, HC-One’s Rivendell View Care Home Deputy Manager, shared:

“It’s always a pleasure to see the residents enjoying activities they love.”

Cara Stockhill, HC-One’s Rivendell View Care Home Manager, added:

“Seeing our residents light up with joy during outings like this is what makes our work so rewarding. We’re committed to creating personalised experiences that bring happiness and connection to their lives.”
