Rothley care home celebrates National Cheese Day with creativity and community

Residents, families and colleagues at HC-One’s Mountview Care Home in Rothley, Leicestershire, celebrated National Cheese Day (June 4) in style, led by Development Chef Matthew O’Brien.

National Cheese Day is a light-hearted celebration of one of the nation’s favourite foods, and at Mountview Care Home, it was the perfect excuse to bring people together for some delicious fun.

In the morning, residents participated in an interactive baking session, where they crafted homemade crackers from scratch. Guided by Chef Matthew, they mixed dough, rolled it out, and cut their creations with enthusiasm.

With laughter in the air and a few cheeky nibbles along the way, the event was a fantastic way to spark conversation, encourage participation, and celebrate the simple pleasures of good food and good company.

Laura Cotton, at HC-One’s Mountview Care Home Front of House Manager, stated:

“It was great to see the residents getting creative and making their plates look pretty. They really took pride in what they prepared, and it was lovely to see families joining in and enjoying the moment together.

“The event forms part of our ongoing commitment to delivering meaningful experiences that promote wellbeing, social engagement, and joy among residents.”
