Audrey Sincock, a Resident at HC-One’s
Market Lavington Care Home in Devizes, Wiltshire, celebrated her 100th birthday with her family, friends and fellow Residents.
Born in Shane’s Castle, an unusually small castle on a little island right in the middle of two main roads in Devizes, on 23rd August 1922. Audrey worked in the local Post Office when she left school and it was there that she met her future husband, Reg, who was the Deputy Postmaster there in 1937. She chose to become a housewife when she married Reg and would always tell people that she loved cleaning!
Audrey has lived a long and happy life, similarly her father, William George, lived till an astonishing age of 106!
To mark the special day, Market Lavington residential, nursing and nursing dementia care home put on a party for Audrey, which was attended by friends, members of the care team, fellow Residents, and family, including her close nephews and cousins who were able to visit and share this special occasion with Audrey.
There were beautiful moments throughout the celebration for Audrey, being surrounded by people who loved and cared about her. Especially when she received a special card from Queen Elizabeth too and was able to enjoy a little bit of the splendid birthday cake that was baked and decorated by Wellbeing Coordinator, Michaela Swiffen.
Several Residents at the 80-bed home were in attendance too, enjoying the festivities, the beautiful buffet supplied by the kitchen team, and all sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Audrey!
Angela Wakely, Resident at Market Lavington Care Home, said,
“It was lovely to be part of the celebrations.”
The event also got many of the other Residents reminiscing.
Gordon Grist, Resident at Market Lavington Care Home, said,
“I can’t imagine being that old! Though I knew someone who was 103 years ago.”
Audrey’s cousin Guy, and her nephew Tony, were so pleased at the way the event turned out and thanked all the staff from all departments in contributing to this important day!
Guy, Audrey’s Cousin, commented,
“Thank you so much for all you have done. It’s made it a special day for all of us. Audrey has been so important in all of our lives! It’s wonderful to be here today. All the staff in the care home should be rewarded – you do a great job!”
Tony, Audrey’s Nephew, added,
“This was so lovely. Thanks to all who organised it. A very special day.”
Riaz Ali, Wellbeing Coordinator who helped to organise the event, commented,
“How amazing is it to be in the presence of someone who has seen so much in life and has lived in a world that was so different in many ways, compared to today.”
