199 years celebrated for double birthdays at Devon care homeAt HC-One’s Gittisham Hill House residential, nursing and dementia care home, in Devon, one Resident turned 100 on Boxing Day!

Josephine “Jo-Jo” Stewart-Richardson, was made to feel extra special on her birthday as Colleagues made her a lovely birthday cake and she received a telegram form the Queen.

Unfortunately, Jo-Jo’s family are in South Africa and couldn’t fly over to see her on her special day but organised for some lovely red slippers to be sent to her, which she has worn ever since! They also sent over some lovely words which they asked could be read out to her. Colleagues wrote this in a card and read to her on her birthday which Jo-Jo loved.

In the afternoon, all Residents had tea and the choice of two birthday cakes, as fellow Resident Nora Hartopp, turned 99 on the same day!

They all had a good sing song in the afternoon where Nora really enjoyed herself, commenting, “I had a lovely day for my birthday, loved the singing in the afternoon!”

Senior Carer Nikki commented, “Its lovely seeing all the Residents enjoying themselves.”

Shani Mould, Carer, added, “The Residents had a great time in the afternoon,

Julia Heneker Home Manager, commented, “To get to 100 is amazing, what a lovely time celebrating the double birthdays!”
