The Coronation weekend was celebrated in style at HC-One’s
Stamford Court care home, in Stalybridge, Tameside, as Residents indulged in a delicious buffet, watched the ceremony together, and even learnt some interesting facts.
Coronation celebrations kicked off at the 40-bed nursing care home earlier in the week, with an activities craft session where Residents could make their own personalised crowns to wear on the day. Some of the ladies even decided to get their nails painted, with colours inspired by the Union Jack flag.
On the big day of the Coronation, Colleagues greeted Residents in their themed t-shirts and the home was dressed in royalty for the historical event with lots of flags, bunting and pictures of the new King Charles.
Residents who wished, decided to go into the lounge in the morning for a traditional English breakfast. After breakfast, a group talked about royal facts, whilst reading through a guide booklet of the event with Colleagues. Some of the Residents also enjoyed themed activity booklets and there was much interesting information to be learnt.
One of the Residents commented, “We've had a free history lesson!”
Everyone at the home quietened down in time for the big event broadcasting, and all sat intently watching the ceremony on television.
After the broadcast, it was time for a British-themed street party lunch with quiches, hot dogs, afternoon tea sandwiches and ‘coronation-style’ cupcakes.
Susan Sinclair, Home Administrator, said, “Residents greatly enjoyed sitting and talking with the members of staff who were very passionate about the event.”
