A traditional Burns Night at Angus care homeResidents enjoyed a night of Scottish food and tradition for Burns Night this year at HC-One’s Lunan Court care home in Arbroath.

Colleagues decorated the dining room with festive Scottish flags, tartan, photos of Robert Burns. Each Resident also received a laminated copy of one of Burns’ poems as their place mat for the evening.

A Colleague did a beautiful reading of Address to a Haggis, before Residents tucked into the delicacy with neeps and tatties, washed down with a dram of whisky or glass of wine as they listened to Highland music.

One Resident commented: “The meal was lovely and nothing beats a good whisky! I like the poetry as well.”

Residents then enjoyed a relaxing evening of poetry, music, sweet treats and, if they so desired, another drop of whisky.

Lunan Court Home Manager, Ursula Schneider, said: “Our Residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed their Burns supper. Hopefully next year we can celebrate with Residents’ families which will make the occasion.”
