A trip to the North East coast for Consett care home ResidentsResidents Greenways Court care home in Consett, had a lovely day out visiting the coach and taking a walk down to St Mary’s Lighthouse.

For this weeks trip at Greenways Court, it was decided Residents would take a trip up to the coast.

Maureen Urwin, Catherine Kirkley, Taylor Collingson and Margaret Graham were all ready for a lovely day out and hopped on the minibus for the drive to the coast.

The first stop on the trip was to North Shields Fish Quay. The Residents had a walk along the fish quay taking in the fresh sea air and then hopped back onto the bus and they made their way to St Mary’s Lighthouse.

It was such a beautiful day and there were some lovely photos taken of the Residents. One of the Residents, Taylor told us a fond memory of how his father used to tell the family they owned the lighthouse and the land it sits on, so he felt like he was coming home. It is lovely for the Residents to carry on their memories and share them with others in the care home.

The Residents had a lovely walk along the causeway and the views were beautiful. Everyone seemed to enjoy their day out. The Residents really enjoyed being out in the fresh air.

Maureen, said, “It helps me sleep a lot better when I have been out and about in the sea air.”

Kinga Kowaliczek, Care Home Manager, remarked, “It was a lovely day out for the Residents and they all loved the look out to the coast.”
