Resident Brian Tuplin of
White Gables residential memory and nursing memory care home, in Lincoln, is a keen gardener so has been tidying up and weeding the home’s internal courtyard.
Brian is still very active and a very knowledgeable and keen gardener and swiftly took on the challenge on a particularly warm autumn day. He loves being able to feel that he was helping and making a difference, commenting, “I really enjoyed myself, it made me feel useful.”
Karen Holmes, Administrator, said “It was lovely to see Brian pottering around and seeing the staff interacting with him helping where needed and following Brian’s lead.”
“Our courtyard now looks much better and Brian has asked us to get him some bulbs and flowers so he can finish the job and maybe earn another beer.”
