April Park celebrationsThis month at April Park in Derbyshire, which provides residential care, Residents have had a couple of different events to celebrate.

On the 25th to celebrate the life and cultural legacy of Robert Burns, April Park indulged in some Scottish delights. Wellbeing Colleagues made up some whiskey cocktails and also dished out haggis to those who wanted to try it. Everything seemed to go down quite well, one Resident said, “I’ve always wanted to try haggis but never had the opportunity”. The haggis went down very well with the Residents, with one describing it as “gorgeous” and another commented on the cocktails by saying, “that’s a strong drink, I really enjoyed it”.

The following day saw Residents going from the North of the United Kingdom over to Australia, cuisine wise anyway. Residents had a go at making fairy bread lamingtons to celebrate Australia Day. Residents said it was a messy business getting all of the prep done for the cake, but it was more than worth it at the end.

Christine, the Home Manager went on to say, “I’m glad the Residents enjoyed celebrating Burns and Australia Day, they looked fabulous!”
