Aston House celebrate DiwaliLast week, Residents at Aston House care home, in Hayes, Middlesex, had a brilliant day as they celebrated the festival of Diwali, popularly known as the 'Festival of Lights'.

Residents and Colleagues helped in making colourful patterned Rangoli which were displayed in the home. Rangoli is a form of art which is very popular for the festival.  There were prizes given out for the best Rangoli designs.

The day consisted of a variety of Indian music and dance. The wonderful glow of the lamps created a very wonderful atmosphere and there was plenty of party food for the supper; including a range of traditional Indian sweets for the Residents to enjoy.

Mrs Shanti, a Resident, described the Diwali party as “being back at home with our family”.

One Colleague remarked, “Diwali is such an important day for our Residents as many live away from their families and these festivities provide the opportunity to bring the Hindu community together and celebrate the culture.”

“It was great to see everyone get involved in the dancing and thoroughly enjoying the occasion.”

Seema Sandeep-Jose, Home Manager, added, “In these unprecedented times, ensuring Residents feel part of their cultural traditions is more important than ever.”
