Over the last couple of days at HC-One’s
Harley Grange residential and nursing care home, in Leicester, Colleagues and Residents have been busy with the revival of the coffee morning as well as bringing some colour to the home.
Yesterday morning at Harley Grange, everyone chose to have a coffee morning in the lounge to have a chat and catch up with each other and also to celebrate a special birthday.
It was a different experience to usual, due to current restrictions, but everyone made the most of it; listening to songs from the 40’s and 50’s, talking about what they wanted to do this week and asking each other how their families were doing.
The coffee morning was a nice start to the day and left everyone ready for lunch and the afternoon activities.
Everyone then enjoyed cake, coffee, tea and milkshakes.
Overall eight Residents participated in the coffee morning: Anne Porter, Michael Hadley, Jayaben Palmer, Jillian Anderson, Pamela Davies, Lilian Mason and Michael Slee.
Anne Upton, Care Home Manager, commented, “Overall the morning went really well, it was nice to see everyone with their tea cups and saucers and cake before 12pm is always a treat!”
Today the home’s new aqua paint sheets arrived (see pictured) This activity uses hidden images which are revealed with a paint brush and water.
Colleagues have seen a great sense of pride and achievement within Residents during this activity as the use of aqua paint creates a real image without the need for mess, whilst allowing independence to succeed.
One of the highlights was watching the participating Residents’ faces light up when they saw what they had created.
Colleagues and Residents discussed how the activity went and came to the decision that they should bring in more of the aqua paints with the Residents suggesting the farm themed ones next!
Anne added, “It was lovely to see so many Residents independently completing tasks.”
