Beaconsfield Court care home in Barnard Castle, County Durham, a 30-bed residential care home, has been shortlisted for The Care Team Award Category at the Great British Care Awards 2022 for the North East region.
The nomination for the award is in recognition of their hard work and kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion the team shows every day to ensure the people they support receive the best quality care.
The team have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to keep our Residents safe and comfortable during this very worrying time.
Colleagues have dedicated their time to each of our Residents, often coming into the home in their own personal time to spend time with the Residents, so they did not feel lonely. The team have worked together to think of ways to keep family and friends of Residents involved including through the use of technology.
The team have held fayres and birthday parties via an iPad to allow Residents and families to celebrate key milestones together. Colleagues have also used virtual reality headsets for Residents to be able to visit places they have always wanted to go to, and to ‘bring the outside in’, allowing Residents to escape their day-to-day settings, to explore and go on new adventures.
Home Manager, Laura Langridge, who nominated the Care Team for the award, said:

The Great British Care Awards consist of 21 awards, which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of distinction across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The award ceremony of the Great British Care Awards 2022, Regional Awards for the North East region takes place at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, in Newcastle on Thursday 10th November 2022 when the winners will be announced. Successful winners at the North East regional awards will progress to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards 2023 taking place on Friday 17th March 2023 at the ICC in Birmingham.
